日日饮靚汤!

31 12 2007

ever since i bought the endo thermal magic cooker from isetan, mum & shupin r diligently making soups everyday!

they r both so excited abt the cookers tat they would get corns, ribs, pig’s stomach for making soups wif

the cooker keeps the soup piping hot which is one feature tat i luv

and the soup is so well boiled tat the pig’s stomach and corn becomes reli soft!  so energy saving coz the food juz cooks by itself

the well boiled soup looks so nourishing!

but the 2L one is more practical.  we got the 2L & 6L set but mum prefers to haf 2 of the 2L instead.   the 6L is still in the box…mayb can use it to cook bah zang….haha

oh, not to forget mummy’s corny joke

the whole family was beli excited over the cookers as we examined them.  kerri caught the gist of our conversation and told mi softly, cook porridge for li li(kerri) while pointing at the small cooker.

i told mum wat kerri said and she promptly went to the kitchen.  she soon returned wif a bowl of porridge and told kerri “煮好了!”

i thot my skin was quite ‘dirty’ after the last hols, so i scrubbed my nose abit too enthusiaticly.

in the end, my nose felt raw and sore for a wk!

scrubs and masks r products tat r used sparingly….a little goes a long way so they last forever and ever

Little old lady

30 12 2007

A little old lady is walking down the street, dragging two plastic garbage bags,
one in each hand.

There’s a hole in one of the bags, and once in a while a $20 bill flies out of
it onto the pavement.

Noticing this, a policeman stops her.

“Ma’am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag…”

“Damn!” says the little old lady…..”I’d better go back and see if I can find
some of them. Thanks for the warning!”

“Well, now, not so fast,” says the cop. “How did you get all that money? Did you
steal it?”

“Oh, no”, says the little old lady. “You see, my back yard backs up to the
parking lot of the football stadium.
Each time there’s a game, a lot of fans come and pee in the bushes, right into
my flower beds!” So, I go and stand behind the bushes with a big hedge clipper,
and each time someone sticks his thingie through the bushes, I say: ‘$20 or off
it comes!’ “

“Hey, not a bad idea!” laughs the cop. “Good luck!” By the way, what’s in the
other bag?”

“Well”, says the little old lady, “Not all of them pay.”

The loonie

30 12 2007

The Canadian dollar was named newsmaker of the year on Thursday by Time magazine, for its spectacular rise and surpassing parity with the US greenback in 2007 for the first time in more than 30 years.

“When currencies start breaking records, it’s usually a sign that something big is happening,” the magazine’s Canadian edition said. “And something big was happening in Canada in 2007.

The Canadian economy boomed even though its southern neighbor and biggest trading partner’s economy seemed to cool. And engines of Canada’s economy shifted from the nation’s traditional manufacturing heartland in central Ontario and Quebec provinces to the resource-rich West and Atlantic Coast.

The loonie, a sobriquet given to the Canadian dollar, meanwhile, traded for more than 1.1000 US dollars in November, climbing from 87 cents US at the beginning of the year, and from a historic low of 61.79 cents US in January 2002.

The loon became a symbol of the Canadian dollar in 1987, the year Canada first minted a dollar coin with the black and white water bird on its face.
This year, it was buoyed by strong oil and metals prices, of which Canada is a major exporter.

Reaching an all-time high on November 7, the loonie had appreciated 14 percent against the euro since the start of the year, 16 percent against the pound and 21 percent against the yen.

Ordinary Canadians benefited from cheaper imports, but Canadian exports, 75 percent of which typically head south to the United States, were hit, nearly 100,000 manufacturing jobs were lost in 12 months, and tourist hubs such as Niagara Falls and Whistler saw a sharp drop in foreign visitors.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he was “concerned” about the dollar’s “unprecedented” rise.

But Canadians “handily” handled it, and even thrived as the Canadian economy remarkably adjusted to the soaring loonie, said Time magazine.

Death fee

30 12 2007

going by the book for all situations is plain silly.  guidelines cover most generic situations while exceptions r dealt wif by reviews

Airline Descends to a New Low: a Death Fee
We all know that some airlines nickel-and-dime you with fees — fees for baggage, fees for food, fees for blankets and pillows. But fees for death?

Monrovia resident Jane Wilkens, 48, was looking forward to a getaway to Hawaii’s Big Island this coming April with her 77-year-old mom and one of her mom’s friends. In August, she booked three first-class tickets to Kona on Hawaiian Airlines for $4,287.

But in September, Wilkens’ mom underwent surgery for a back problem. Three days later, she unexpectedly died from a blood clot.

“It was horrible,” Wilkens recalled. “She was my best friend. We were very close, and this was devastating to me.”

After dealing with all the things that arise under such circumstances, Wilkens finally got around to canceling various travel arrangements. She contacted the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort, where she’d booked a suite for about $600 per night, and explained what had happened.

“Just like that, they canceled the reservation,” Wilkens said.

She contacted Delta Air Lines, on which she’d booked a separate first-class trip for a “girls’ weekend” in Maine after she and her mom returned from Hawaii. “They fully refunded the tickets, no questions asked,” Wilkens said.

She contacted Hawaiian Airlines, which, like Delta, requested a copy of her mom’s death certificate. About a month later, Wilkens received a letter from Paul Whitaker, Hawaiian Air’s “resolution coordinator.”

He said the airline would refund each of the three first-class tickets but would deduct a $75 “service fee” per ticket, or $225.

Whitaker wrote that Hawaiian Air understood that the death of Wilkens’ mom was “an uncontrollable event,” but nevertheless believed its fees were “fair and reasonable.” He said the carrier now considered the case closed.

“I thought that was ridiculous,” Wilkens told me. “I bought those tickets nine months in advance and canceled seven months in advance. It’s not like they wouldn’t have time to resell them.

“It wasn’t the money,” she added. “It was the principle.”

As it happens, Hawaiian Air prides itself on its customer service. The carrier’s website includes a “customer service commitment” that says the airline “is committed to delivering superior service by making air travel an easy and positive experience for every customer.”

“Our passengers’ comfort is of utmost importance to us, second only to our concern for their safety,” it says. “Since 1929, our company has built an unmatched reputation for safety and hospitality.”

Hawaiian Air is Hawaii’s largest airline, serving 20 domestic and international destinations. The airline says it carries an average of 6 million passengers a year.

In October, Hawaiian Air’s parent company, Hawaiian Holdings Inc., said its quarterly profit more than doubled to $19.6 million.

Keoni Wagner, a Hawaiian Airlines spokesman, said the charge to Wilkens was “a refund fee for processing the refund.”

“There’s administration involved — paperwork, computer entries,” he said. “The processing of the refund takes staff time that costs the company money.”

I don’t know about paperwork, but I’d be very surprised if the computer entries in such cases involved more than a few minutes of work. Let’s say it took 10 minutes per ticket to process. That means the $75 fee equates to an hourly charge of $450, or $3,600 for an eight-hour shift.

Hawaiian Air must pay its staff pretty well.

Not all carriers take such a heartless view of things. Susan Elliott, a Delta spokeswoman, confirmed that her airline does what it can to accommodate bereaved passengers — and doesn’t ding them with processing fees if a trip has to be canceled.

“In the case of a nonrefundable ticket, we make an exception if there’s a death of the passenger or an immediate relative,” she said.

Elizabeth Merida, a spokeswoman for the Air Transport Assn., an industry group, said there are no regulations governing how an airline must treat passengers with a death in the family.

“There are variations,” she said. “Those kinds of decisions are up to individual carriers.”

Wilkens, an insurance broker, said she won’t lose any sleep about Hawaiian Air withholding $225 in dead-mom fees. But she doesn’t think people in her position should be taken advantage of.

“It’s morally wrong,” Wilkens said.

Her credit card company, American Express, apparently agreed. Wilkens said she contacted AmEx after Hawaiian Air dug in its heels. She’d used her plastic to purchase the tickets.

Last week, a response finally arrived. AmEx said it would cover Wilkens’ fees and refund the $225 to her account. She assumes the card company will use its considerable muscle to be compensated by Hawaiian Air.

“We look at everything on a case-by-case basis,” said Desiree Fish, an AmEx spokeswoman. “It comes down to customer service. Sometimes we do things as a goodwill gesture.”

One alternative in such cases is to take out a travel insurance policy that would guarantee a refund in the event of a death in the family. Such policies can run about $80 for every $1,000 in travel costs, which is kind of pricey but could provide a little peace of mind.

But should that really be necessary? If your mom has just died, you’d think any company would step up and do the right thing, especially if they want to keep you as a loyal customer.

Reaching into your pocket and plucking out $75 — that’s just cold. Especially for an otherwise warm place like Hawaii.

reduced consumerism

25 12 2007

having read abt plastic and other waste tat will b on earth long after i’m gone has affected the way i view consumerism

i wished there’r more products wif reduced or minimal packaging to reduce waste

as i bought a bottled drink yesterday, i was guilty abt not bringing my own water and contributing one more bottle to the dump

so i brought the bottle back, washed it out and decided to keep it as my water bottle

but i had to throw the empty bottle of multi purpose solution away.  the packaging is not excessive but is there a need for a box to contain the bottle?  i haf decided to write to CIBA vision and suggest they do away wif the box.

yes, the box can b recycled.  however more resources would b saved if we start wif reducing unnecessary waste

correction to the above, the box is necessary to hold the solution bottle and a lens care.  i will suggest the box to b made from recycled materials instead

i now understand y it goes “reduce, reuse, recycle”

recycling should b viewed as the last resort when something has been consumed and can’t b reused.

i found tis quote on the CIBA vision Singapore website

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; it’s the only thing that ever has.”

 —————————————————————————————–

more on consumerism,

i was browsing at OG while waiting to pick up mum.

somehow, i wasn’t in the mood to get yet another piece of clothing or accessory

mum was surprised to see mi empty-handed.   she exclaimed tat she thot i would haf bought the whole store by den….faint

yes, i’m from raffles place and proud of it!

23 12 2007

i was out to lunch at a bz foodcourt wif some colleagues but we were lucky to find an empty table quickly.

i took out my tissue paper to ‘chop’ my seat and was asked promptly “were u from raffles place?”

though it may haf been meant as a joke, i haf always felt strongly against the preceived image tat the sg media and non-raffles place workers try to impose on tissue paper chopping of seats.   i can take a joke and i can laff at myself but i m indignant when the joke is at the expense of doing something rite

yes, i’m from raffles place and proud of it!

my response was beli direct “if u dun wana use tissue paper, u can sit ard while the rest of us get our food”

y tis snobbishness against a behaviour tat has efficacy at heart?

if u ever worked at raffles place and had to keep to a strict one hr lunch break, u will understand y tissue paper works!

the crowd is huge at lunchtime and it’s tough to get seats.  after all the waiting for seats, u still haf to line up for food which leaves u wif juz enuff time to eat

worse still if u r lunching alone!  many a times, i haf seen ppl walking ard wif a tray of food looking for one empty seat

of course, one person can sit at the table while the rest of lunch kakis get food

or the poor person can either get one of the others to buy food for them, (provided they wana eat from the same stall) or get their food when the rest come back.  NOT the most efficient way!   and if the group is even more polite to start eating onli when everyone has food, everyone ends up waiting ard for the last person to b back.   see the vicious cycle and how silly the whole matter has become!

i compare tis wif HK where 搭台 is not onli acceptable but EXPECTED!

and given the size of the tables in the 茶餐厅, you r literally sitting elbow to elbow wif strangers u r sharing the table wif

yes, there is definitely a lack of privacy but if u need privacy, go somewhere else!

the emphasis HK ppl place on efficacy and practicality is obvious.  and i luv the candidness and nonchalant attitude towards it.  the culture is competitive but at least there is no pretence of being high & mighty or fake snobbishness tat is apparent in the attitudes of my fellow singaporeans.

in conclusion, tissue paper ‘chopping’ of seats is an unusual phenomenon tat evolved from a need

so is the ‘fine’ culture and even hanging clothes outside our flats

the culture of table sharing may b a shocker for most of us too but u would nbr tink of laffing at hk ppl when u see them in action.  tat is juz a way of life and it’s onli respectful of us to accept it when in hk.

even non-asians noe, when in rome, do as the romans do.  (and dun laff at the romans juz becoz u r not!)

the kiddos got into the thick of action wif making dumplings but as they did not adhere to  hygiene standards as they dropped and picked up their dumplings, all their completed tang yuans were not put into the pot.

looking at the tang yuans of all shapes and sizes tat they made, i m suddenly convinced tat making tis age old family tradition has its educational values.

isn’t tis akin to playing wif playdoh??   except tat instead of using plasticine choked full of artificial colouring to make inedible food items (think waffles, fried egg and wat haf u for playdoh!), the chinese r cleverer to use safe food products tat won’t kill the kiddos if ingested

plastic bags

22 12 2007

i haf always hated taking plastic bags, especially small ones coz they haf little reuse value, not even as trash bags

besides, if the item u r buying onli render a small plastic bag, it most prob means tat u can juz as easily stuff it into ur bag which is wat i usually do

another reason i hate small plastic bags is i tink the packing is a waste of time and i m too lazy to do the unpacking of each item from a bag

i m tinking of keeping a tally of how many plastic bags i use and save

Biodegradable

22 12 2007

humans r biodegradable of course, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, rite?

most things however tat humans use, will outlive their stay on earth

http://www.worldwise.com/biodegradable.html

Cotton rags 1-5 months
Paper 2-5 months
Rope 3-14 months
Orange peels 6 months
Wool socks 1 to 5 years
Cigarette butts 1 to 12 years
Plastic coated paper milk cartons 5 years
Leather shoes 25 to 40 years
Nylon fabric 30 to 40 years
Tin cans 50 to 100 years
Aluminum cans 80 to 100 years
Plastic 6-pack holder rings 450 years
Glass bottles 1 million years
Plastic bottles Forever

how can i reduce reliance on plastic bottles?
cutting dwn on bottled drinks as much as possible, plain water is healthier anyway

even glass bottles will last almost forever…hmm

and milk cartons r on the list!  no more cold milk!   anyway, i prefer formula milk

Basura Bags

22 12 2007

i like the basura bags! made from drink containers

it’s appalling when u consider the environmental impact of some of the materials used in our daily life

using non-biodegradable materials mean tat the containers we use tdy will clog landfills and outlive the users.   it’s disgusting how non-sustainable our livestyles r

Six- and 10-month-old babies are much more capable judges of character than previously thought

21 12 2007

interesting article!

Not only can infants pick out a good Samaritan, they tend to identify with them, according to a Yale University study published in the journal Nature.

The study released last month presented babies with a diorama-like display of an anthropomorphic circle struggling to make it up a hill. Just when it appeared that all hope was lost, a heroic triangle appeared, and pushed the circle to the top. The round climber bounces, clearly elated to have reached the summit. The same scenario is played out again, only this time a square appears at the top of the hill and pushes the circle to the bottom.

The babies were then asked to pick a toy – the helper or the hinderer, as scientists called them. One hundred percent of 6-month-olds and 87.5 percent of 10-month-olds chose the helper. The results were consistent even when the triangle and the square swapped places as good guy and bad guy. In several other iterations of the experiment, the helper, regardless of shape or color, won out.

“Babies are very competent socially,” says Kiley Hamlin, lead author of the study. “They can figure this kind of stuff out without people explicitly teaching what’s nice and not nice and who’s nice and who’s not nice.”

In another component of the study, researchers showed the circle choosing to sit with the helper or the hinderer. In this instance they found that 10-month-old babies were far more adept at noticing something seemed strange when the circle decided to sit with the hinderer. (They figured this out by how long the baby watched the helper or hinderer pair up with the circle, working under the assumption that babies, like adults, study something that appears out of the ordinary.)

While other research has shown that babies make assessments about people based on their physical appearance – they gravitate toward attractive people – these new findings show more complex levels of judgment.

“In any species that needs to cooperate as much as humans do … we always need to know who might be a good cooperator and who might not,” says Ms. Hamlin.

missing vouchers

21 12 2007

i haf a nagging feeling tat i still haf some robinsons voucher and some movie vouchers expiring in dec

but try as i might, i can’t seem to locate them

so sianz if the vouchers expire hor!   could they be in the car or somewhere?

almond scented everything

21 12 2007

i got a bar of almond soap for x’mas and i left it in my drawer

when i took out my notebk from the drawer, i caught a whiff of almond

seems tat the almond soap is turning everything in my drawer into almond scented stuff

nice!   i tink i wana leave a bar in my wardrobe next!

i didn’t expect bar soap to make great air freshener!

x’mas shopping

21 12 2007

hq et moi did some tiring x’mas shopping yest

it’s a good thing tdy’s a hol coz it gif us one more shot at gifts buying

i thot i was done wif x’mas shopping on sun but as more gifts appear throughout the wk, i decided to do abit more

i didn’t haf to get a lot of gifts.  it’s not like the x’mas xchange for everyone u noe

but compared to in the past when i wun juz grab anything within budget and looks cute (read foto frames, ornaments and other useless knick knacks), i haf become a more careful shopper wif age

nw $ is not the only consideration, i oso wana make sure i get something the recipient will use/like.   being a prudent shopper means i dun waste my cash on stuff tat may nbr see the light of the day post x’mas

so yes, i m happy wif all my buys tis yr and the prezzies r all wrapped and waiting to b given out tml

frankly speaking, i was nbr a great x’mas person n gift buying is turning mi off x’mas

nail color

21 12 2007

i got the ultra cheap nail gloss from beauty credit.   juz $2.5 a bottle!  wat a steal!

i decided to try out the candy pink rightaway

the colors r so thin tat i need at least 3 coats before my nails look decent

foto of new nail color to follow shortly once i do the upload.   dun wana do anything to risk chipping my nails atm

oh!  and atm means at the moment

children

20 12 2007

was browsing and saw the bread n water site

as fellow human being, i wish i can help those hoo r less fortunate too.  wat we can do as an individual is nbr enuff, yet however small an act of kindness is, it doesn’t go unnoticed and makes a difference in at least one person’s life

as a parent, i understand and share the sentiments of educating our kiddos to b aware of wat is going on in the rest of the world, to learn of and empathise wif children hoo do not haf the same level of material luxuries as them.

while we rejoice over the fact tat we r fortunate to b staying in a political stable environment and our children r given a better chance at education and leading a ‘better’ life, it is not enuff to juz drill facts and figures into kiddos to make them ‘knowledgable’

wat is impt is for them to grow up into ppl wif compassion as kindness in their hearts is the ultimate wealth one can haf

kindness can onli b taught thru action…let mi ponder on how i can impact tis

nails

19 12 2007

going for pedi and mani wif LJ later in the wk but i decided to cut my fingernails first

marie thot my nails look longer wif nail colour but i corrected her tat they’r the same length.   she asked how i cut away all the ‘white’ of the nails when i can’t see them.   well, i can’t stand the ‘feel’ of my nails being long so i can cut my nails by feel

and i did coz i noe the nail place wun cut my nails so short

but pedi is still an enjoyment coz i luv having the dead skin removed and having pretty feet

lost in dhoby ghaut

19 12 2007

took a train to dhoby ghaut to mit YT @ cathay for ‘hitman’ on sun

mi long time no go orchard and no take trains tat i got lost at dhoby ghaut

i was tinking of walking to cathay from PS but alas, i found myself across the rd from hsbc when i walked out from the station

i went back dwn and came up another exit, tis time to find myself still on the wrong side of the rd and even further away from PS

i asked YT for directions to cathay…unfortunately, she oso drives so duno how to walk from mrt

next was shu’en who told mi to walk from PS taxi stand, if onli i can find PS!

in the end, i decided to walk above ground and take the traffic light to cross the rd to cathay instead of wasting more time getting lost in the station.

19 12 2007

i luv tis bag from yunnan tat ivy bought for mi abt 10 yrs back

been keeping it coz can’t bear to use it.   i absolutely luv the colors on the bag

finally decided to use it last wk and not beli practical.  onli one catch to close the bag so i tink easy target for pickpocketers.

hitman the movie

19 12 2007

pending back to skool tasks

16 12 2007

i’m done wif reorganising their drawers and clearing away last yr’s actualli it’s tis yr’s bks

now to label them & wrap them wif book cover

i oso juz realised i need to remove YY’s nametags from his old uniforms and sew them onto his new ones

i m still contemplating whether to splurge on a skoolbag for YY,  though the total cost of the 2 bags he got throughout p1 oredi exceed the cost of one good bag wif ergonomic design

assessment books

16 12 2007

got a few english and maths assessment bks for YY from mustafa. yes, ah bao, i definitely intend to get ur books for YY but mustafa doesn’t sell chinese assessment bks (yet!)

i was contemplating whether to get some maths bks for YY at the skool bkshop tdy and asked for his opinion.  he said yes but i decided against it.  when we got back, he was searching for his maths assessment bks and was so disappointed i didn’t get them.

hungry mi

16 12 2007

had an early din of yummy prawn noodles @ old airport wif super smooth beancurd tat couldn’t sustain mi till morn after 3.5 hrs of vigorous shopping @ mustafa

mi devoured 2 BB papayas and 3 BB bananas.  i dun take the del monte bananas at all, i hate the taste

snacking on fruits should b healthier den mi eating bread or rice at tis hr rite?

i ate 2 cocktail sausages last nite before i fainted from hunger

how can ppl not eat after 8 unless they haf a super heavy dinner?

preparing for skool

15 12 2007

tis yr i didn’t rush to get YY’s skool books on the first day

instead i waited a couple of wks and even though it’s a sat, the q was reli short.   wat a stark contrast to last yr when i q for books and uniforms

faced wif the task of sorting out his new books, i realised i needed to keep away all his p1 stuff first

so tis has evolved into a drawer spring cleaning for YY & QQ.  i realised they both haf so many activities bks tat they haben touched

the gemini part of mi kicks in and i moved from sorting new books to clearing drawers and old books to tearing out used pages from exercise books to creating piles for recycling & putting away (& surfing and blogging at the same time)

looks like i’ll b spending the rest of tdy clearing tis mess, den labelling & wrapping books

stressed out by one kiddo, can’t imagine when QQ goes to P skool…faint!

hungry hungry hippo

15 12 2007

mi is starving!   at 1.30 in the morn!

i got hungrier and hungrier as i browsed the F&B groups on facebook

i found a group for bringing krispy kreme to SG!!   OMG!!   i’m not alone in my luv for the tasty little donuts on sunny red dot

the hunger got so bad, i couldn’t ignore it anymore

mind games

13 12 2007

i hate playing mind games,  i haf next to nil tolerance for such petty games.  i refuse to take the bait

yes, i may even seem mean but i can respect myself more if i stick to my guns

i tink men & women haf reli evolved, in opposite directions

if it’s been HQ or LJ or any other gf, the conversation would b so straighforward and results much faster

yes, i miss our spontaneous dinners,  it takes more rapport & trust for these dinners to happen den u can imagine

we r beli goals driven.  no guessing abt any agenda or circumstances tat leads to sudden dinner plans

J&J sale

13 12 2007

went to the J&J sale and got some great buys.

the neutrogena deep hydrating masks were going for $20 for pack of 8.  oso got the softwash 750ml for $3.50 each.

too bad some of the other J&J products i use are not on sale too

i mixed up the new J&J BB range Soothing Naturals wif aveeno’s Active Naturals.   the ingredients are actual different bet the 2 range

i luv my aveeno postively ageless night cream, the best i luv used and the aveeno cream can reli moisturise for 24 hrs.  super effective!

J&J brands

13 12 2007

did u noe there r many many brands under J&J?

Band-Aid
Clean & Clear
Neutrogena
Listerine
Desitin (under Pfizer Consumer)
RoC
Rembrandt
Carefree
o.b
Acuvue

PIE & jam

13 12 2007

was caught in a horrible jam a couple of days back

an accident bet lorries tat had contents of the lorry spilled on lanes 2 & 3 rendered PIE motionless bet tampines and eunos.   i was stuck in stationary traffic for an hr!

tis evening, again traffic was at a standstill after i turned onto pie from paya lebar

the signboard read “accident lanes 1-3 before eunos”

i was prepared to exit eunos since i was stuck in lane 4, the turning lane anyway

by the time, i crawled to the eunos exit, i realised the sign was wrong.   the accident vehicles were onli occupying lane 1 !!   traffic was totally smooth after eunos

hoo is donny?

13 12 2007

something uncanny happened tdy

i met someone called donny whom i find so, so familiar looking!   i couldn’t resist asking which sec skool he was from coz i thot he’s oso from ah but he didn’t ans directly

i asked LJ den YT and emailed HQ asking the same, ‘juz who is donny??’

i m pretti sure i actualli spoke to him before as his face & name tie to some vague fuzzy memory tat remains elusive

i m beginning to place him to ard the time i start work

i haf 2 strong suspicions at the moment, either i noe him from IBF or he’s karen’s ex-classmate, ex-colleague or something

dun ask mi how i link him to karen but tis is my strongest suspicion at the moment.  pls! pls!  let the mystery b solved or i’ll b dead b4 the cat

shacked!

13 12 2007

tink i worked too late tonite, yawning non-stop nw

Soda Green

12 12 2007

when i first heard “Su Da Lv”,  I told it’s the name of the singer “苏达绿”

it took mi mths before i realised tat Su Da Lv is the name of a group and means Soda Green….faint!

mi feels quite dumb

QQ & the Zzzz bug

12 12 2007

one thing i learnt from the trip, QQ can sleep anywhere and everywhere!

her morning routine during the hols : she woke up at 9, drank milk, went for bfast at 10 and declared she’s tired at 11 when we start to shop

she fell asleep the min i carried her after alighting from a cab to petaling st for dinner

on another day, she had a heavy lunch and claimed tat she wasn’t tired coz she isn’t hungry anymore.  we proceeded to sungei wang.
she claimed she wanted to sleep dwn when we were shoes browsing at sungei wang and promptly fell into a deep slumber after she seated herself.   she didn’t woke up during the next hr during which i carried her ard and shopped

point to note, she even salivated over my shoulder!

am i glad we had a comfortable and convenient hotel when QQ and the Zzzz bug are inseparable!

D&D 2007 picts

12 12 2007

wat more can i say?

the initial blank look followed by the look of realisation on colleagues’ faces whenever i went up to them during the D&D was PRICELESS!

and our table had great fun!  it was a blast!

somehow when u r dressed up and having fun, i tink ppl hoo dun dress up r juz not having as good a time.   u need to gif before u can receive.   u need to  投入  before u can haf fun

nope, tis is not the MIB look.  my arabian prince didn’t dress up tis yr!  how boring!

of nails & colour

12 12 2007

in the end, i decided to redo my nails but juz a single coat

as i diligently smudged colour onto my nails, i reflected upon why mi, someone who has managed to stay off the bottle for so long, is tempted to pick up the bottle (of nail polish) again!

there is actualli some perverse joy tat is derived from seeing the tips of ur finger sporting different shades.   i can’t stop inspecting my nails at least a few times a day to 1) admire the colors  2) check for any defects

man may haf advanced in so many ways, but i feel so primitive in my pursuit of nail colour

conclusion, the main prob wif a single coat is not so much how long it lasts, but the fact tat the colour isn’t deep enuff !   sigh!   the woes of nail painting!

Yucky nails

12 12 2007

is it juz mi or does everyone’s nail colour get chipped as easily?

i kept trying to maintain or ‘repair’ the nail colour and it’s onli been 5 days!

anyway, i gave up and removed it all

reli sianz to redo it at tis hr

issit better to do 2 coats tat last 5 days or one coat and redo in 3 days’ time (or lesser)?

new nail colour

10 12 2007

mi is no fan of long nails and nail polish

in fact, my nails are so short u can’t see any white, i cut my nails twice a wk or whenever i see any white

since i painted my nails bluish-black for D&D and needed nail polish remover, i decided to grab a couple of bottles of nail polish too

check out my nails tat i painted during fri’s MJ session at mun’s place

no news from her yet, is javier arriving on mon?

of suites and bathtub

10 12 2007

the hotel mgr was sweet enuff to offer mi a free upgrade to a bigger suite & the suite was amazing!  it’s the biggest hotel ‘room’ i haf stayed in so far

the WC & bathroom were separate and big by hotel standards.   there was a shower cubicle as well as a bathtub in the bathroom.

we had a kitchenette and a living room wif one chaise lounge, one single seater sofa, coffee table, 3 chairs, round dining table & study table

well, i realised the kiddos luv the bathtub the best, as evident in tis foto.  i got a video of YY in the tub too…hehe

 kiddos-bathtub.jpg

QQ’s BB tok

10 12 2007

QQ is still sprouting BB gibberish sometimes

and i can’t understand y she pronounces some stuff weirdly

she has been calling shupin “jiu nu” instead of “jiu mu” for the past 3 yrs

and she calls “pu tao”, “pu tiao” instead

Advent Calendar!

9 12 2007

i juz logged out of my acct for YY to log in when i realised tat it’s the month of Celebrating!
