tml is the first time YY has chinese spelling aka 听写 wif more words den 汉语拼音.
mi is totally stressed over his strokes.
i dun bother much abt grades as long as he tries his best and manage at least a decent pass, anything above 70 is reasonable to mi.
but i am beli bothered tat he is not getting his strokes PERFECT for his chinese characters.
and i mean the order of the strokes not how nice the final output looks like.
i dun tink there is any shortcut to tis except lotsa of practice in writing which YY will haf to do soon.
even if he can write the word but wif the strokes wrong, i tink it’s still wrong. there is no compromising on the strokes!
now i question the whole concept of learning to read first before writing. it is SO…impt to get the foundation rite. and i mean the writing rather den sheer pronounciation.
as he writes the word, he’ll certainly learn to read it.
but i guess in a bid not to let kiddos get discouraged from writing chinese characters and losing interest in learning chinese altogether, enabling them to read is a saving grace.
i tink children should learn classics like poems and stories.
YY learnt some poems tat i know and like when he was abt 4 and he could understand them coz i explained them to him. well written poems are extremely easy to read and rem, even for kiddos.
YY luvs period dramas as much as mi too and all kiddos luv stories so it’s a good way to get interested in chinese in general.
but i digress…more writing for YY while i stress over tml’s 听写
