nope, not a real medical emergency. juz tat she was sniffing away so her doc recommended we bring her in to A&E for him to check her.
turns out to be flu alrite and they extracted her phlegm
as chatting wif hock one nite when we arranged to mit for bfast upon his return from shanghai.
we didn’t establish contact during his trip nor xchange nos so i had no idea if he got onto the flight back as planned.
nonetheless, i turned up @ the airport at 6am.
hmm…a little late coz his flight touched down since 5.20am.
waited around till 6.45am when i m finalli convinced tat he can’t b taking tat long.

waiting muz b one of the most tormenting process
full of anticipation yet full of uncertainty
no ctrl over the outcome coz there’re so many factors tat can affect the end result
anything can happen tat will make ur wait futile.
but it muz b extremely gratifying when u finalli get wat u’re waiting for.
the feeling of someone eagerli awaiting ur retn makes mi feel warm and fuzzy. isn’t tat the sweetest act?
mi got lunch date for fri when i arrive in hk liao.
so excited at catching up wif miriam, anthony and ada. all colleagues tat i haben met for so long
and of course at seeing my teamie marie again. we haf so much to tok abt tat i tink i no need to sleep for the entire 3 days i’m there liao…haha
and of course the good food is a huge attraction for mi…yup…and some shopping
was browsing in the library and chanced upon tis interesting section on bgr.

i felt like i was in Heaven wif the vast selection of nice wool. much better den wat spotlight carries. yes, my dream is to haf my own hobby shop where i can crochet all day…too bad tat’s hardly sustainable in sg.
the next best thing is to retire, take care of my grandkids and crochet…my ideal retirement plan.
we were reminded of our earthly attachments by our growling stomaches.
we walked over to the ppl park’s mkt for dinner…
i wanted the dumplings but it doesn’t seem appropriate for dinner so i walked ard somemore.
i decided to settle for Ming Fa fishball noodles. i wanted the teochew fish dumplings.
unfortunately, it was sold out and i had bah choh mee instead, so did samie & brenda.
the bah choh mee SUCKS! big time. i asked for xtra vinegar & chilli but the noodles were so bland!
the best dried bah choh mee is still the stall in keypoint.
wonderfully cooked noodles…not too soft.
and the vinegar always smells so good!
went to golden dragon wif brenda & samie.
wow! i felt like i was in heaven…so many beautiful yarns to choose from.
i LOVE touching & squeezing all the balls of yarn.
and the colours! i hope heaven has losta yarn too.

was discussing politics while lunching yest. wah! sounds heavy hor? no lah, i was juz telling ivy & gang tat got minister coming again tis sun.
all the lunch kakis went…wah…whole yr oso nbr see them once…now so on ah!?
and ivy has no idea who her MP is too.
see, staying in landed even worse, no noticeboard for MP’s foto.
anyway, my noticeboard got no mention of MP’s name oso.
amy is the onli one staying in opposition ward, hougang.
her response was, her MP is beli often on the grounds. she does see him around and her town council is beli efficient. her husband has given feedback before and response has been quick and action swift.
i told them abt how we had no car wash bay for 12 yrs and no covered walkway from bus-stop for 13 yrs. so sad…i always envy ppl wif car wash bays in their carparks.
everyone was excited to haf the opportunity to cast their votes.
so different from the last time when they had no interest at all in voting.
i am glad they haf changed their minds.
every singaporean should play a part in shaping the political landscape.
tat’s not juz a citizen right but a duty as well.
especially if u haf kids, u r responsible for their environment eg. housing, education and political scene is part of the 大环境．

i asked some ppl tis sleeping question before. do u haf any recollection bet the time u go to bed & the time u fell asleep?
coz i dun! i usualli fall asleep within secs of hitting the sack. i haf no recollection of the time in bed! but i do struggle to wake up in the mornings.
i’ve nbr had problems sleeping but i do haf problems staying awake in bed.
sometimes when on hols or in chalet, we gers would lie in bed & chit chat. i can nbr hold it up for long before i start blabbering nonsense. i would b struggling to stay awake & tok sense but my mind has oredi drifted off to dreamland…haha
tat happens when i use the fone while in bed too. i cannot hold off the sleepy bug for long.
met HQ for dinner yest. we walked over to cafe le caire @ arab st for turkish cuisine.
though i’ve been working @ concourse for the past few yrs, tis is the first time i haf dinner @ arab st
food…glorious food!
service is as usual, painfully slow but the wait was worth it.

i shared wat happened on sun wif su sin & HQ & surprisingly, they both felt the same.
tat i no need to feel so bad abt it…hmm…and their definition of frens is quite different from mine. i felt i failed miserably as a fren.
as long as i get along wif someone & xchange some small tok, i would treat the person as a fren until proven otherwise tat the person is unworthy as a fren.
thus, having bfast wif a fren is not a big deal to mi. for someone hoo’s so not an earli person, i tink having bfast is such a fun thing. of course, the good food plays a part too….so gluttony of mi
and i love going to airport. i love sending off & receiving frens. i used to dislike the receiving part coz i thot it’s abit boh liao for mi to mit my frens & they go off home. unless, i’m sending them back as well.
but i hate going off or coming back alone. luckily, i haben faced tat so far.
mayb it’s becoz of my herd mentality? but mi will b flying to HK alone come may and nobody to fetch mi @ HK airport…truely a first for mi!
but i’ll make sure i am received warmly when i come back….hehe…any volunteers to fetch mi hm?

since i’m on a roll, i decided to post my long overdue displeasure abt my multi storey carparks.
firstly the 2 highest deck of the is not covered.
and there’s no lift in my carpark.
my carpark has 10 decks, 2 on each floor ie. deck 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B…till 5B.
i am paying $90 for my season parking which is by no means cheap since parking in private carparks and i am referring to textile centre where i used to park for work, costs onli $75.
i pay $90 for the multi storey covered carpark.
but y am i so stoopid as to carpark on the rooftop, leaving my car in the sun?
well, becoz the carpark is full on all the lower decks…there’re simply a lot of cars here but i m not complaining abt tat.
so when i come back late, i end up parking on rooftop,
my car is left in the sun/moon AND
exposed to all the elements of nature AND
i need to climb at least 8 flights of stairs to get to the car the next day AND
of course i waste petrol when i drive up the ramps to the top deck AND
i pay the same $90 as everyone else parking on a lower deck
juz too bad tat i come back late??
of course, i can move my car to a lower deck the next morning. there’re plenty of lots in the day, on the lower decks
if i come back late, how can i wake up earli the next day to move my car to a lower deck ?
so i am proposing tis, haf a special season parking coupon at the same price as open carparks. i’ll might as well get tat & park on the rooftop everyday.
and i shall write to hdb abt tis. no point juz kpkb on the blog.

i like to wash my car myself.
up to last yr which is juz 12 yrs since i stay in my estate, my carpark has no car wash bay.
i duno how my car owning neighbours haf been washing their cars for the past 12 yrs. i was too young to drive den.
but after owning a car for the past few yrs, i used to drive to nearby carparks to wash my car.
i used to admire car wash bays in carparks in other estates & i totally envy the residents there.
such a simple privilege to b able to wash ur car in ur own carpark.
and all tis while, we are paying the same amt, $90 for the season parking of course.
tat juz covers the parking, doesn’t stipulate they need to provide car wash bays
finalli, someone took pity on us & built a car wash bay later last yr.
isn’t tis incredible to b happening in a mainstream non opposition ward?
dun assume tat u will b well taken care of juz becoz u not under opposition ward…haha
but we are beggars of course so hoo am i to complain?

Minister Raymond Lim visited pasir ris on Sun 23 Apr.
A huge tentage was set up & there was a carnival of sorts.
Yeow Yeow’s school sent a letter asking for parents’ consent for the kids to turn up on sun morning in school uniform to welcome the minister. The iternary included a part when parents have to be involved too.
the kids would get a free burger each for participation.
of course, we didn’t go. tink we can still afford our own burgers and i had better things to do
juz wondering, aren’t ppl oredi rushing to welcome the MPs & ministers hoo haf been doing so much for us & are doing such a brilliant job?
is there a need to make such deliberate arrangements for ppl to welcome visiting ministers & MPs?

LJ hoo stays in tampines & junqiang hoo stays in bedok, both told mi to check my noticeboard when i said i duno hoo’s the MP for pasir ris. my knowledge of the MPs stop at Charles Chong from 2 elections back. and meet the ppl sessions used to b held at my blk.
I hereby loudly announce tat NO, THERE IS NO PICT OF THE MP ON MY NOTICEBOARD IN PASIR RIS, MY FRIENDS!!
seems tat i haf no need to meet the MPs and the MPs haf no need to mit mi too.
since i had played no part in the selection of “my” MP, it is possible for mi NOT to know hoo “my” MP is. to mi, he is juz a guy put in tis designation by his party. and tat’s the truth. ppl hoo stay in walkover estates are juz beggars wif no choices. we haf no say in hoo’s “our” MPs.

saw a banner outside the carpark abt covered walkways tat r going to b buit. wow! after 13 yrs tat i’ve been staying here, suddenli HDB / whichever authority is in charge of building the walkways, is ’seeing the light’ and realised tat we need more covered walkways.
i noe the govt is concerned abt opposition wards not getting upgrades.
dear mi hoo is fortunate enuff to b staying in mainstream govt ruling wards is concerned tat ppl staying in my cluster of blks haf to make 200m dash from the bus-stop to my blk ( the nearest from the bus-stop ) when it rained for the past 13 yrs. but we are beggars so we haf no choice.
especialli since the bus-stop is juz outside a skool. i pity the students hoo haf been making the dash whenever it rained. their prayer is finally answered.
and hey! my hypothesis seemed to haf been proven. covered walkways are an indication tat elections are coming. haha
and if i’m staying in an opposition ward, i’ll b beli tulan tat upgrades r tied to my vote.
aren’t residents in opposition wards singapore citizens too?

the soup is quite peppery…beli shiok…and the chinese tea is beli fragrant…had so many cups of it.
best part is, they serve free dessert on sun…beli nice dessert…mi got sweet tooth : )

it WAS our tradition to celebrate mid autumn’s tog in past yrs…but over the yrs, it has evolved to adhoc dinners ( for the gers ), supper gatherings and birthday celebrations.

had lunch at little Thai on fri wif the guys from office. it oso doubled as dorothy’s welcome lunch.
everyone enjoyed the food a lot. we had a good spread :

and the lunch group consisted of a good mix of nationalities, there were sri lankan, british, australian, canadian, malaysian and of course singaporeans…moi !

i bought the water chestnut dessert but forgot to eat it…hopefully still edible on mon
saw them setting up DHL balloon when we went to 7th storey.
the balloon was up when i went to office yest.
duno wat’s it’s for but ah la beli excited abt it.
and my weather forecast last nite was wrong…the weather’s beautiful tdy….makes mi long for sun, sand and sea…tink i need a beach getaway.

so excited tat i called ah nee on the spot to inform her we no need to go KL for the good steak liao. they serve their steaks on hot plates & they’ll help u put on an apron before u’re served. interesting rite…shall jio keow here for makan…she’ll definitely like.

mi has bad ache/pain in my right shoulder blade yest. LJ helped mi massage it & it felt better.
But tis morning, the pain was bad when i woke up & i felt tat my right shoulder is swollen. my bro dismissed it when i told him to check if my shoulder is swollen.
juz now at YT’s place, HQ cfrm my right shoulder is slightly swollen & tat may b due to inflammation. of all the ppl ard, i’m the one hoo exercises the least so i find it ironic & incredible tat i’m suffering from tis.
HQ helped mi rub some muscle rub & i stole one of YT’s plaster. haf stuck it now but no feeling at all leh. i dun remember it being tis way. i thot will haf heat or something. anyway, hopefully it works.
yest was the full month celebration for my niece Kerri.

i brought 2 boxes along to YT’s place. at first, we were wondering hoo’s gona eat the red eggs.
since there’re 8 red eggs & there’r 8 of us, everyone should eat 1. however, HQ dun take eggs. we started peeling eggs & ate 7 of them.
at tis point, LJ wondered if she should eat 1 more egg & she did.
conclusion : LJ likes to eat hard boiled eggs!
as for the ang ku kueh, the filling is tau sai & we realised tat there’r again 2 skools of preferences.
moi & SY prefers tau sai while HQ & LJ are hardcore peanut filing fans. i can’t remember the rest’s preferences. pls enlighten moi.

but we all agree tat marriage does nuthing to enhance the relationship
there was an interview tat i saw where the couple has been together for many many yrs without marriage and they haf kids & everything.
i was touched when the guy said tat becoz they’re not married, he’ll work harder at the relationship. issit it better for the couple if they treat each other like gf/bf all the time? constant courtship….wow!
of course, there’r unmarried couples tat break up after being tog for yrs too. mayb they haf settled into the monotony trap of the married couple when there’r no more butterflies in the stomach. sigh, i do miss tis feeling but i dun seem to b capable of tat anymore….sad rite.
unfortunately for BGR, feelings fade & die if both parties dun work hard at keeping the love alive.
luckily, friendship juz gets better & better even if u dun see all ur frens everyday. but muz put in effort to mit up & share & support each other too lah.

i guess wif budget airlines, it’s quite tricky to work out the best deals eg. whether by return or by going to several sectors.
i can’t get the super cheap tickets for the dates i selected previously. reali muz standby kakis, den bid ur time for the best deals.

ok, back to the main topic, our dinner @ Changi Village on Mon nite. ah nee had a chalet & they bought a lot of nasi lemak so we decided to gif nasi lemak a miss ( my fav leh! muz go there & eat another day! )
we wanted to eat 煮炒 but needed to wait for 45 mins…pengz…damn hungry liao so we gave tat a miss too.
we walked ard abit & saw something interesting on the plates of our malay frens. ah nee approached a couple & asked them wat they were having.
the answer is “nasi ayam penyet”. to be honest, we were drawn by the wooden plates tat the chicken was served on.
when the couple finished their dinner, they walked past our table & asked if our nasi ayam penyet taste good. the chilli is not tat spicy but overall, the dish scores points on presentation.
the story of the sugar cane drinks
these 3 cups of sugar cane were complimentary of some friendly ppl drinking at a nearby table hoo realised tat we were celebrating a birthday.
quite obvious lah, wif the birthday cake, candles & song…hehe
so embarassing to be doing tis in hawker centre but it’s the company celebrating wif u tat matters, and not how u celebrate it. tat’s juz a 行式.
ah hock & ah nee’s birthday actuali falls on the same day! but not the same yr hor!

there were many ppl at the yishun columbarium but due to the spacious layout, it didn’t feel as congested as Fong Yun Thai.
we burned paper offerings for him…i always feel tat this act of fillial piety is for the personal gratifation of the living den for the deceased.

when they served the steaks, they juz went ‘hoo’s having beef’

when home, i eat to live meaning i’m not particular abt wat’s served & i usualli finish it off within 15 mins. yes, i’m a fast eater.
but when o/s, i usualli practise live to eat. meaning i would go to great lengths for good food eg. queuing and queuing and queuing or going to hard to reach or impossible to park places.
after all, nuthing much to do in sg besides shopping & eating so might as well spend more efforts on food.
i would usualli take the lead on where to go for food for mit ups, though i haf been pushing the job of choosing to the preggy ladies in my life…haha…good excuse to get out of choosing.
i love it when ppl give suggestions on where to go coz usualli it means i’ll end up having good food tat i didn’t noe abt. after all, ppl usualli only recommend good food.
and yes, i hate it when guys haf no idea where to go…rather they say 随便 BUT they haf a lot of objections / opinions to my suggestions.
they might as well say “anything except a long list of food”
and i hate it when they complain abt the distance, waiting time & wat not.
come on, how big is sg for anywhere to b too far if the food is worth it?
ok, i can feel fatigue coming over mi now so i’ll go take a 2 sec nap, hmm…mayb more like 2 mins before i resume blogging. a lot of inspiration tonite so i dun wana stop
plus, i need to unwind after working so hard….actualli i was planning on working somemore but dun tink i’m up to it tonite. will leave it for earli tomolo morn. tomolo is a long long day for mi.

YT had eaten earlier so she onli had Ah Balling.
YT called SY hoo was on his way home so XM & him dropped by & had Ah Balling too.
mi is damn fickle…whenever given new soup option, i’ll reverse my previous decision…i changed from peanut to almond to ginger to almond…hehe
and ann reminded mi to take pict of my bah choh mee coz i waited more den 45 mins for it. starving liao leh!
been a while since i last eat bah choh mee. i can b quite stuuborn. i onli eat the 2nd stall from the right of the first row. dun care wat ppl say abt the other stall being nicer.
juz like nasi lemak, i onli eat International one. dun care oso tat everyone, including my bro say tat the stall opp is better.
my reasoning is tis : since i oredi made the trip all the way to Changi, y should i take a chance wif any other stalls? wat if turn out not as good? den waste of my time, rite?
and i found the offending western food stall tat mispresented their food. not pete’s grill hor, pete’s grill is nice one.

the grilled sausages wif potato salad is in the upper right corner of the shop’s sign, in case u haf problems locating it. i noe coz i can spend a long time looking for the correct stall.

i was late in picking up LJ on sat so we decided to go for the 2pm class instead.
despite having been to LJ’s place numerous times, recently i haf started going to her place by tpe.
den i’ll hum tum my way till i get to her place.
i mean i noe the st & blk no. & the direction her place is in so i’ll juz trust my gut feel at each turning.
the results is i’m going to her place by a different route each time & the way back is always different too…beli dynamic…hehe
since we got to bugis at 11+, we had lotsa time to kill. we decided to go macdonalds to eat fries and stardee our japonese.
ok lah, we spent some time chit-chatting but at least managed to familiarise ourselves wif the 50 basic characters あいうえお. hehe
before long, it’s time for lunch & we headed over to 友记 for duck rice.
not good idea to haf such a filling lunch before class coz we ended up being hyper sleepy!
after class, we popped over to rochor to buy beancurd den mackenzie road to buy nice nice curry puff.
we discovered tat we should haf gone to mackenzie to get curry puff first as the road is one way after rochor beancurd and we had to make a big detour to get to mackenzie.

at first, i didn’t realise tat the name of the curry puff stall is selera, i thot it’s the branding of the “canvas shade”. opps…reli 有眼不识泰山!

LJ recommended we eat the goreng pisangs while they’re hot. so we did juz tat. we happily devoured the goreng pisangs in the car, parked by the side of the road.

the special thing abt the goreng pisang is the outer coating.
usualli, it’s beli crispy but beli hard on the outside but selera uses a beli fine coat of flour for the goreng pisang. real special & so yummy!
and the curry puff is realli very good!
the crust is not too thick nor hard, especially at the outer fold ( curved part ).
much better den old chang kee, definitely!
and the filling is nice too, i particularly like the egg in curry puffs.
and only $0.80 compared to $1.00 for old chang kee. realli value for $$
even the paper bag got special design.
they do catering too, got halal cert & another branch at cuppage
we even saw their vans!
my lunch at the “you guess where it is” estate was Fried Kuay Teow from tis super long queue stall.
before i walked around the food centre, i bought some dim sum from tis double stall. oso got a bit of queue so muz b good.
as they didn’t haf a lot of varieties of dim sum, i decided to supplement my lunch wif some other food so i ventured into the food centre
i tink i muz haf queued for more den half an hour lor. my bro even called mi & said he finished eating & wana go off liao
actualli i nbr heard of tis stall but i besides having herd mentality, oso haf got queue muz b good mentality. so when i see a lot of ppl queuing, i juz joined the queue lor.
but ann is beli good! she guessed the stall correctly juz wif the clue tat the queue is super long!
Amazing rite? i noe at least 1 other fren can get tis rite so i shall keep everyone in suspense till some kind soul wana reveal the answer

after the posting on peppermint tea, karen gave mi a pack of lemongrass tea from crabtree & evelyn.
i tried it in the office yesterday.
not bad, the lemongrass taste is beli mild compared to the peppermint tea.
i quite like the peppermint tea form pompadour…the flavour is beli strong & smells wonderful…instant pick mi up.
after the prayers @ Fong Yun Thai, mi took a different route back…not on purpose lah…juz missed the turn.
ended up having lunch @ an interesting estate. so nice after the recent upgrade. guess where?

i am paying more attention to the surroundings coz i realise tat while we admire wat others haf, eg. angkor, we neglect tat singapore is oso rich in culture.
like shophouses wif exquistive designs & vibrant colours.
or the tiling along old walkways and in temples.
or the beautiful indian temples, mosques and churches…isn’t chijmes a popular foto snapping location?!
while we envy the historical heritage tat others haf, let us not forget tat we are rich in our heritage too. and we do not need to go far or look hard to find evidence of our rich culture.

went to pick annette from her office tdy. tis is the first & most prob the last time i’ll see her at tis office.
was rushing off last fri for the topshop aftershow party.
suffered a long paper cut on my middle finger from a file while in a hurry to complete my work.
the scar is still there…sigh…i seem to be quite prone to paper cuts, i used to dread mthends when i needed to help wif a lot of filing coz i’ll always end up wif paper cuts & gashes from staples on the files. work hazard!
