No blogging since last Thurs

Hi folks, I haven been able to post anything since thurs. a lot of things happened bet den & now.

qiqi’s been sick & had a hospital stay.

and i’ve been fighting a flu / fever tat’s been bothering mi since Sat so i’ve been downing lotsa fluid, sleeping before 1am & so far, i have managed to recover from a sore throat tat was beginning & keep the fever at bay.

yup, got lotsa materials tat i wana post. will prob catch up over the wkend.

the 2 major activities of our bintan trip, besides excessive nua-ing, muz be mentioned.

MJ
H has brought along her travel MJ set which was quite tough to play as the tiles were really tiny. of course, it was a lot better den MJ cards.

slight problem we encountered in the first game was, the set were missing 4 tiles! it has no “animals”. forced by circumstances to innovate & overcome constraints ( 所谓穷则变,变则通), we decided to use the 2 spare tiles as animals. at least got more chance to get “flower”.

the flower were very special. there were 春夏秋冬 and 梅兰菊竹。 the latter is especially hard to remember so i wrote it on the paper tat we used to line the table.

Reading
well, as i mentioned before, i didn’t bring any book but on the 2nd nite, HQ was too tired to play MJ. While LJ & HQ settled in early to bed, YT & I stayed downstairs & read. I stole LJ’s slightly sinful which she was finishing while YT read Harry Potter.

After some time, i looked up from the book & was surprised tat YT has dozed off. Is Harry Potter tat bad tat it induces sleep?

Drinking
we had champage tat we bought at DFS on the way out, on the 1st nite, over the MJ table. it was very nice & smooth but it was a bad idea to do it over MJ. I became so sleepy tat i had my eyes closed throughout the games.

the weather was good & it gets rather when outdoors. after walking on the beach, i enjoyed my nice cold draft. the following day, after sunbathing, i went back to the villa for my beer & almost finished it all juz walking back to the pool.

well, here’s a bonus picture tat i took of the gers while they were engrossed in checking the bill.

i was very happy to leave all the work to them as i relax on hols…hehe….YT oso had the honour of working out the sums for us.

anyway, to cut things short, it’s been a most enjoyable & wonderful holiday….now why didn’t we do tis earlier?? i tink a lot of it has to do wif the fact tat we are so familiar wif each other & we know each other so well. nobody is embarassed at not being able to lock the bathroom door & having juz the shower curtain pulled while the rest walked in & out of the bathroom.

and it’s strange how all of us are so different yet able to strike a balance. like i’ve got a herd mentality as YT puts it. i can’t stand solituary for long. but HQ is such a loner sometimes. ok, i’ll correct myself, we are not juz different but quite extreme in certain ways.

can’t wait for our next holiday together!

Freaking Cold Weather & Bus

weather’s really cold these couple of days especially last nite. i was freezing in the mornings.

it’s quite chilly in the office but i find tat it’s better to juz brave the cold in my tube top den to use a shawl coz my body will get used to the cold after a while. but when i wore my beautiful orange osmose cardi yest afternoon, i felt the cold much more acutely when i took off the cardi.

muz mention the freaking cold bus i took tis morning. all the windows were fogged up & i tink the passengers on the bus were all shivering wif cold. i had to wrap my shawl around mi for the short journey to the mrt station.

i first heard abt the 三世书 from my mum yrs ago. i knew tat the 阿姑 at the temple at Lor 7 which we go to regularly, could interpret the 三世书. i’ve been wanting to consult her but it’s juz one of the things tat i nbr realli got ard to.

wat’s the 三世书 abt? based on my experience, from my eight characters, she flipped thru the book & explained hoo i was in my previous life, wat i am in tis present life & wat i’ll b in my next life. she oso touched on things tat will happen to mi within the next 3 yrs. it’s like a very brief life summary wif a couple of details thrown in.

i was told repeatedly tat i shouldn’t marry young as i am too smart for my pants or rather i’m too smart for a pair of ladies’ pants. i was a man in my previous life & will again be a man in my next life. well teamie, i guess ur “man’s mind” applies to mi too. sigh. when did the intellect of a ger become a hindrance to marriage?

anyway, the gender thingy became a discussion of karma when i discussed tis wif HQ. she has 2 explanations for tis :
1. i accumulated bad karma in my last lifetime hence i became a woman in my present life & i’m accumulating good karma now to be a man again in my next life OR
2. i accumulated good karma in my last life to become a woman in my present but i must be accumulating bad karma to be a man in my next life…haha

Dinner Chez Moi

Tonite’s dinner is quite good, considering tat we ate out @ 鼎泰丰 Tampines Mall the nite before. but as usual, mum cooked too much rice. Poor Shubin & mum will be eating the overnite rice tomolo. Fried rice, anyone? Sigh, sometimes i feel like telling mum tat i’m not eating at home so she’ll cook less rice & i can juz eat the dishes.

Spice Restaurant

After moving out onto the beach to take snapshots of the red moon, i turned back to face the restaurant & took a pict of Spice Restaurant from the beach.

Dinner was nice and the ambience was very good. they had a live “band” moving from table to table, serenading the diners. we waited for our turn but they didn’t come around to our table of 4 gers.

the lead singer was good & did all his numbers in an opera-like singing style. he did english songs, chinese songs & even a hokkien song 爱拼才会赢!

Red Moon

This shot was taken by me after I walked onto the beach & quite a distance from the restaurant. Can you see my shadow in the foreground of the picture?

Interesting phenomenon tat we saw at the Bintan beach on the 2nd nite.

my camera was dead so i tried capturing the nbr seen before colour of the moon wif my little fone. in the first 4 shots, there’s a slight red tinge to the moon. well, off camera, the moon was bright red in colour…totally weird looking…looks like end of the world is coming.

in the last shot, the clouds cleared & the moon was again silvery white & really bright.

they haf a new alfresco area which was a bit too dark for dining or reading the menu, in comfort but great for chilling out.

Slightly Sinful

i mentioned tis book in my previous post.

i din bring any book to bintan, onli my crocheting. luckily LJ had brought 2 bks along. so on the 2nd nite, while the rest were bz reading their books, i started on LJ’s trashy novel Slightly Sinful.

the book was readable and even though the story was set in regency england, parts of it is still true & applicable to modern day.

the heroine & hero of the story is a diplomat suffering from amnesia and his lady saviour who was staying wif prostitutes. the 2 develops a friendship which is nearly destroyed when they succumb to lust one nite. which explains my point abt fuck buddy nbr being ur close fren.

but being a trashy novel, all’s well tat ends well so of course they get thru all obstacles & end up together…ok, ending’s not tat unpredictable.

the best part of the story is when the villian appears at the end of the story & gets bashed up by the prostitutes. tat’s my fav part!

Can man & woman ever be friends?

well, wat triggered tis thot was an old posting i saw on bm’s blog abt fuck buddy.

of course such a controversial topic set off a series of comments. general gist of it tat i got was :

• tis term has been in existent for some time
• as gers get more independent ( marie terms it as “women have evolved” ) , they are able to treat the act of sex without love & purely as fulfilment of physical needs
• even though it lays claim to be “without investment of feelings”, one party is bound to be hurt so dun play if u can’t afford to

coincidentally, the results of a recent survey abt pre-marital sex was shown on TV tonite. a higher percentage of gers den boys were for it. surprising? hardly,

i oso read an article in a chinese magazine abt one nite stands & women hoo get addicted to it.

i guess my point is, beyond the glossy surface of our “conservative” society, lies decadence & debauchery.

someone commented tat having fuck buddy is like including sex as one of the things tat u do wif ur best friend of the opposite sex, in addition to shopping & dining. which brings us back to the question of : can man & woman ever be just friends?

i am oso tinking along the line of when harry met sally. frankly, i tink man & woman can only be good friends but they can’t be best friends unless he’s gay or she’s lesbian. in my case, i treat my close guy friends as jie-mei which strikes them off the love interest list forever.

how do u draw the line bet buddies & friends tat may develop into romantic interests? i dun tink gers can help falling in love wif a constant guy friend hoo’s always there for her.

but fuck buddy should nbr be ur good friend coz it’ll onli ruin the friendship. tat’s my 2 cents worth on the matter. will oso comment on the book Slightly Sinful tat i read on tis trip which proves tis point. unless u r a character in a trashy novel, such reckless acts of succumbing to physical wants will onli destroy watever friendship or positive feelings 2 ppl had.

ok, i need a distraction after spending the entire day on bintan postings & i haven’t finished! anyway, it’s late now & i need to sleep if i am to get up in time tomolo so tat’s all folks, for yest, sun 20th nov.

Frog Attack!!

tis posting is abt the most bizarre thing to happen to us on Bintan. FROG ATTACK!!

we came back from our swimming on the first day & YT was the first to bathe. the 3 of us were watching TV downstairs when suddenly HQ told mi tat there’s a frog!

how it got in was totally beyond us, when the entire villa is enclosed. there are onli windows upstairs & we didn’t open them at all!

anyway, luckily HQ & LJ were very very brave & they collaborated to open the glass doors leading to the patio & sweep the frog out using a egg tray.

BUT tis is not the best part. the most bizarre thing is, the following nite, another frog reappeared, at the same spot! we realised tat it’s a different frog as it hopped a little tis time coz it was nearer the curtain & we startled it.

now the biggest question in our mind is how did the frog get in??

and of course, is tat a toad or a frog??

Buggy Riding & Driving

some interesting shots tat i took while riding on the back of the buggy. the missing person, of course, is the one riding in front : P

we tried asking the buggy driver if we can drive the buggy when we first arrived. he said yes, but u need to rent the buggy which costs $25 per day! wow! so exp! next trip, we’re staying at the bintan lagoon villa tat comes wif a buggy! yesh, we are oredi planning our next trip.

anyway, to cut a long story short, i sat in front on the way back to the villa & the buggy driver asked if i wanted to drive the buggy. of course, i said yes!

we changed seats quickly & the gers in the back held their breath & screamed instructions all the way. we are supposed to pass this little bridge but i couldn’t see it in front & kept asking where the bridge is. of course tat got the gers really worried again.

haha, it was really fun. for mi at least. but the poor gers got a bit of scare…haha….hey! but we’re none the worse for my driving : P

Cakes, cakes & more cakes

women are such creature animals. after we took the bus back from the Kelong Restaurant, we were lured to the Dino Bistro at Nirwana Gardens hotel lobby by the most delicious smells.

we discovered they were cooking salmon and it was emitting the most delicious smells. we drooled over the food, obviously tat was meant for one of the diners seated at the Bistro. we must have seemed like a bunch of really greedy gers…hahaha and tis was after our sumptuous dinner tat we ate till we could eat no more & tabao-ed back the lemon chicken for lunch.

in the end, we set our sight on the cakes & being the gluttons tat we are, we decided to tabao cakes back. and to sweeten the deal, we later realised tat they offered 50% off the cakes after 8pm…woah ho!

we had peach vanilla, chocolate fudge and ?? oops, wat was the other cake??

on the 2nd nite, we had mango cheese & 2 slices of blackforest

Dinner at Kelong Restaurant

We had a eight course seafood dinner which included steamed fish, black pepper crab, cereal prawn among others. LJ helped us shell the prawns, as usual.

wat occasion was it tat LJ started shelling prawns after having her manicure done? was it Ah Mun & moi’s birthday celebration at Hans River or was it some buffet at Seoul Garden? pls enlighten mi when u gers see tis.

we spent most of our time in the villa around the dining table where we ate & played MJ. HQ took her travel sized ones along.

our rations to last us for 3 days…actualli we ate out for breakfasts & dinners so rations were more for snacks.

LJ has clearly made herself at home, all curled up & comfy.

It was facing a pond & the buggy tat fetches us there will usually cross tis little bridge tat i still feel is too narrow for the buggy to pass thru’. but of course, the buggy manages tat even when i’m driving it….haha

It’s a 2 storey unit wif 2 bedrooms upstairs. there was a toilet downstairs but onli 1 bathroom on 2nd floor. there was oso a nice patio where we can sit & read in the sun & sweep intruding frogs onto ( oops, tat’s another story! )

rushed into the ferry terminal to queue up at customs so HQ & YT can cut queue later.

Motion sickness & ferry ride

i had to rush to TMFT direct from office so i didn’t haf time for lunch. LJ & moi had our tabao-ed chicken rice & nasi lemak respectively on the ferry before it started sailing.

in the meantime, YT & HQ had gone onto the upper deck of the ferry where they haf sofa like seats wif a table in the middle of each cluster of seats.

i sat opposite HQ & LJ & YT was sitting on my right. there is no seat on my left. it was good sitting there as the sofas were a lot more spacious den the seats downstairs. one drawback was it was a lot more “choppy” & “swaying” upstairs.

HQ had tis theory tat ppl wif bad sense of balance dun get motions sickness. well, both YT & moi haf nbr suffered from motion sickness be it ferry, car, bus, plane or any other mode of transport. and we can both ride a bicycle which should mean tat we haf a reasonable sense of balance, yah?

• 1st trip tat we gers go on trip together ( we haf done chalets & hotel stays but nbr a trip overseas…yea! )

hihi folks, i’m BACK!!

i’m BACK, from Bintan of course. been back for slightly more den an hour now & have since eaten my kim chi cup rice noodles tat wasn’t consumed on the island & washed the clothes in my luggage.

oso oredi turned down pauline’s invite to dbl O tonite & yvonne’s jio-ing for MJ tonite coz dun tink i can make it tonite. need to recuperate & i intend to keep up my regime of sleeping early & getting up early so i dun “waste the day away”.

the sleep bug got mi on the ferry home though i didn’t sleep. and i was yawning all the way home tat i thot i’ll concuss after a quick bite. alas, i’m quite awake after the food intake so i’ll juz blog away for a bit.

will be posting lotsa pictures & tales from tis trip. oredi decided tat i’ll be posting by topic instead of doing a huge posting tat won’t do justice to the trip.

hope i wun disappoint everyone coz my camera batt oredi flat but i felt my charger in the office…oops!

heard tat weather hasn’t been good in SG & there was a storm on fri morn.

Guess wat folks??!! weather was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL in Bintan for our entire stay & all of us got some tan despite slapping on tons of sunblock. after all, YT is getting married & mustn’t get too dark.

Why I blog every nite

Well, it’s firstly for my frens hoo read, almost everyday.

i now haf a super convenient fone tat allows mi to snap away happily in the day so wat other best way to share my daily experiences & fotos?

neopets is kinda personal coz i play for myself & i’m the onli person hoo gets a kick out of it

now bloggin works in a slightly different manner. it’s kinda similar to keeping a diary, onli due to the popularity of my blog…haha…so thick-skinned, i dun get overly personal.

of course, being the gemini tat i am, there’re plenty of times when i juz wana shoot my mouth off. and HQ, tat’s regardless of good or bad karma.

sometimes, i get over it. sometimes i don’t. so u get some stuff tat’s surprising.

but bloggin is quite one-way unless ppl are actively using the comments. tat’s the biggest diff bet bloggin & emails. but even for mass emails, it’s usually juz 2-3 ppl hoo respond & entertain the rest on the list.

i tink bloggin works in a similar manner. juz tat i’m the onli one hoo gets to tok. so sometimes i sound like i’m toking to myself.

besides being a diary, i treat it like a website to showcase myself. u noe, like spaces & websites tat ppl used to make for themselves. thus the numerous fotos at my profile. i am enjoying tis…haha

but i won’t apologise abt the contents of my blog entries. after all, it’s MY blog. if u dun like any of the postings, pls DO NOT let mi noe.

yeowyeow, btw, oredi has his own neopets a/c and noes wat’s a faerie kacheek & aisha.

qiqi juz refers to them as “baby”.

I’ve done it. I’ve juz done the master reset on my fone and guess wat, the foto transfer works now. *SCREAMING* in my head.

despite mi posting a question on why the uploading ( mobilephonetools ) doesn’t always work, motorola has no better advice for mi other den doing the master reset on my fone. and i got tat “useful” & “works everytime” advice when i called their hotline.

it’s beginning to feel like mi calling helpdesk & being asked to reboot my system for ALL problems.

onli, i hate reseting my fone. all the personalisation is done now. now the fone is 100% stock…YUCK! *vomit*

anyway, it’s too late for mi to be working on my fone. i’ll juz quickly post the fotos i took & go to bed. 6.30am, yesh! I can do it! and pauline, pls make sure u wake up in time to go to work wif mi too! since last tue, u haf onli made it to work wif mi ONCE! hehe…tis should really stress u out….haha…i beli bad hor…i oso tink so! haha

Rekindled Love

thot it was worth mentioning coz the analogy used is quite cute.

well, the story is yvonne, pauline & moi used to be the ‘three musketeers’.
dun scold mi for revealing tis on bloggerland when u gers see tis in another 8 hrs’ time!

anyway, i juz wanted to put across the point tat we were very close. it got so “bad” ard the time we had the malacca trip tat i commented the wkend don’t seem to haf happened coz i was seeing them EVERYDAY…including sat & sun.

those were the days of chiong-ing & suppers at lau pa sat…we love food!

den we drifted slightly apart for a while…of course ms chau was physically very far from us during her sweden yrs.

after her retn, we kept in touch thru emails but somehow things weren’t the same as before.

finally, we had the dinner at swensen’s followed by karaoke a few Sundays back.

suddenly things seem to have gone back to “normal” or before. it was juz like the old times.

of course i was mega touched by their support for mi given my current circumstances….sigh

and how befitting for them to end it all since they were ard when it all began…haha

and we haf referred to tis sudden turn of events as “rekindled love”. the end.

btw, i’m cancelling my HK trip…tinking of doing a malacca trip instead. shall we, gers?

and my fone sucks, a little coz i can’t upload fotos again! i noe how to make it work. i need to do a master reset of the fone and I DON’T WANT to do tat. *WINCE*

ok, gotta keep to my resolution & sleep NOW! so far so good but still not early enuff to accomodate my bro’s timing coz i’m now hogging the toilet every morn. So, i’m gonna try to get up at 6.30am tomolo instead. got one-on-one wif steve in the morn, hope i dun concuss & fall sleep midway…juz some tongue-in-cheek humour…. : P

Qiqi’s birthday

Today is Qiqi’s birthday. At first didn’t plan for any celebration but last min got LJ & HQ to come over to my place & celebrate together.

My Hair after the Henna-ing

guess wat? i dun tink the henna works on my hair…muz b i didn’t leave it on for 2-3 hrs as instructed….sigh…all the hassle for nuthing.

Food for Bintan

As I was scouring NTUC yest, i decided to get some “food” for Bintan. Yesh, we haf a kitchen but somehow cooking on hols doesn’t appeal to mi, unless we can get fresh food. especially since we haf to bring all the ingredients.

thus, i decided to get some cup noodles onli. when my bro, shupin & my mum joined mi, my bro quickly took over the situation. Being the expert “camper”, my bro got mi to stock up on more cup noodles & cup porridge & canned sausages. of course, he oso recommended tuna, sardines & instant campbell soup, all of which I politely rejected. but the cup noodles, cup porridge & sausages oredi took up more than half the space in my trolley bag…sigh, luckily, it’s such a short trip coz i can barely squeeze in my clothes & toiletries.

ya, i packed liao. super kiasu hor….well, it’s a short wk mah…somemore i need to work half day on thurs.

Shopping at NTUC

ok, i noe the title is self explanatory & sounds rather boring but tis was really wat i did last nite. and i spent more den an hour at the tam mall NTUC.

did i mention i’m a shopaholic??

and i absolutely LOVE supermarket shopping. if we haf Walmart in Spore, i’ll stop sleeping & spent all my nites there. why at nite u ask? well if a place opens 24 hrs, den we should make use of tis fact & onli go there when all other stores are closed….the same goes for coffeeshops & other places. spend the normal waking hrs at run of the mill, close at 9pm shops & save the nite for the 24-7 ones. get it?

anyway, back to the topic at hand. wat was i doing there? well, the initial plan is to get lemon, yesh , ONE lemon for my henna-ing. turns out it’s 3 for $1.25 so i had no choice but to get 3. why don’t they sell ONE lemon???

den it was off to all the food sections when i spent my time totally engrossed in food labels. i love reading food labels tat boost the nutritional as well as general information abt the food within.

and NTUC carry such a diverse variety of food nowadays…i spent much time looking at the spread from australia & stuff like turkish delights. WOW! u can get ANYTHING in spore.

and i used to tink of NTUC as a household brand tat onli carry necessities & Carrefour as the supermarket wif “exotic” stuff.

and oso of the Danone biscuits that were belting out X’mas carols. Cool bananas! Dancing & Singing Danone biscuits…WOW!

Henna-ing my hair

It’s been a disaster for most parts of it.

I’ve been at it since 8pm & juz managed to make it to my comp now.

I’m running to the bathroom every 5 mins to wash my hands coz I’ve got henna mixture dripping down my neck still….ARGH!!! I can feel it again. Tis is no good!

oh, and I didn’t follow the instructions exactly.

How I deviate
4 tablespoons of Henna

2 Lipton packets in 1 cup ( i onli got dilmah teabags at home. does it matter? )

0.5 lemon’s juice into the tea ( forgot to add the lemon juice till I added the henna powder )

make tea den add in henna powder den stir.

add 1 egg. if water not enuff, add water. ( somehow, i tink i haf too much water coz the mixture was super runny. thus explains the dripping down my neck as i type tis! ARGH!! )

add 2 table spoons of honeywash & dry hair

den apply henna

after applying, wrap wif aluminium foil + hair towel ( ok, i can’t find aluminium foil so I used clingwrap & paper towel instead. Needless to say, the mess was horrid )

leave on for 2-3 hours ( i duno how long i can stand tis mess on my head, i’m getting a headache from the clingwrap…..HELP!! )

Plus I haf ruined my home T-shirt.

amazingly, my mum didn’t nag mi when i stepped out of the bathroom wif my hair wrapped wif clingwrap & looking a mess.

juz ran to the bathroom for the umpteenth time.

and i’m a seasoned DIY hair dye user. but tis is getting to be too much for mi even.

when i started making the teabag, honey & lemon mixture, it made mi crave for honey lemon tea. but when the smell of the henna is so….overpowering….i duno which is the greater evil.

the pungent smell from commercial hair dyes or this “herbal” smell. *vomit*

my neighbours juz walked past…they muz tink i’m crazy now…perhaps i am.

as i’ve explained, i am a seasoned DIY hair dye person & one of my fav activities is to do a mask while my hair is being transformed from black to “red or brown” depending on my mood. tonite, i continued the habit. onli the min i started applying the henna mixture, it dripped so badly tat it was running all over my mask if i as much as lifted my head a degree.

it got too much for mi as i wondered if my face will be tainted by the henna thru the mask so i had to wash off the mask.

and i usually spend the entire hour of hair dying time, naked in the bathroom so i can wash off any parts of my body tat had hair dye drips. unfortunately, given the 2-3 hours timeline, i decided to do it fully clothed tis time & to blog while waiting for the color to set.

bad idea, thus my t-shirt is ruined. and i tink i’ve dyed my palms, neck & forehead as well.

I am hating this process. the results had better turn out nice. it’s juz not worth the effort.

and is henna bad for health? i thot it’s more ‘natural’ compared to commercial hair dye?? but i overheard my mum murmuring about cancer causing when she saw mi concocting the henna mixture.

and did i mention i felt like a witch when i was stirring the mixture. onli i was using a cup noodle cup.

and if i were a witch, i wouldn’t make potions tat are “jiao sai se” ( pronounced in hokkien, pls )

yucks….hate the concoction. i better get beautiful hair after tis.

Girl Frens & Girl Power

was touched by the piece about girl power becoz i can relate to most of the examples….and why the part abt women’s strength look so similar to my updated profile :

LJ was mentioning to mi abt HQ’s email to her & how amazing it was tat HQ, YT & moi all called her at the same time. I had wanted to call her when I reached the office but didn’t wana wake her. HQ had the honour of interrupting her beauty sleep.

and it is so true tat girl frens will drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. time & again, the strength & depth of our friendship has been proven by events like my job elimination, career dilemma, heartaches & losses and now my circumstances.

it’s not hoo are wif u when u’re happy tat matters. it’s hoo’ll stick by u when the world deserts u.

every time i learnt of something unfortunate happening to my girl frens, my first thot is “we haf a crisis on hand” and we’ll do everything we can to alleviate the situation.

Our Trips

Had a discussion about the dates of the Tioman trip on Thurs nite.

We were trying to figure out y onli XM & LJ could make it for the trip. as for the sibu trip, it was again onli XM & moi. looks like it’s harder to gather us gers den the guys! anyway, tis bintan getaway will be the first ‘overseas’ trip we gers undertake. we have done chalets & hotel stays & spa trips but nbr out of spore.

considering how long we haf known each other, 14 yrs!! more den half of our lives now, it’s quite strange.

LJ has come back wif the date for the Tioman trip : 7 Jul 2000
And if my memory is not failing mi, Sibu trip should be around early dec : 3-7 dec maybe?
I onli rem it’s a long wkend due to the hari raya hols

I’ll be stealing some fotos from TY’s site & doing a foto recap of our sibu trip rite here, tonite mayb…while i’m treating my hair wif henna. in the meantime, need to bathe & get out of the house soon. half the day gone oredi, now i noe wat he means when he says waking up late is wasting the day.

anyway, i’m now a changed person. I can wake up by 7 & make it to work by 9 liao. sometimes, i tink i’m quite stubborn yet veri veri impulsive. like the case wif beef, juz 1 sentence from ah mun & i’ve stayed off it since, which is from sec 3 i tink. in tis case, i dun tink it’s so much wat he said but somehow something stuck mi tat i should b waking up earli in future. totally bizarre, i noe…haha…typical gemini to be confusing enemies juz by sharing her chain of thots…haha

My Hair

After much debate ( with myself ) & discussion wif frens, I haf decided to cut my hair.

Couldn’t decide as I’m trying to keep my fringe back. but the back is pretty messy & long now.

And yesh, if I remember to get a lemon when I go out later, I’ll dye my hair wif henna tonite.

Why henna? Well, I tink Amy’s hair color looks really bright & nice.

A bit hesitant to try it coz I was told once u use henna, the commercial hair dyes no longer works on ur hair! sounds pretty irreversible, rite? anyway, i figured tat given the length of my hair now, it wouldn’t take long for mi to outgrow any hair coloring mistakes.

the other reason why i wana colour my hair is becoz i discovered tat our sibu island cabanas fotos are still available on TY’s pbase foto gallery & i LOVE my haircolour den.

but as YT pointed out, i tink i super fat den. so glad i’ve lost some weight bet den & now….hehe

so, conclusion is, i’ll try out the henna & outdate the results here tonite. wish mi luck!

X’mas is coming!

It’s onli beginning Nov but it sure feels like X’mas is upon us again. As wat my boss pointed out, X’mas is onli 6 wks away!

Where has all the time in 2005 gone to? as u get older, time seems to pass by in a flash. too many things to do, too little time is my usual lament.

Bikini shopping for Bintan trip

There’s no posting last nite coz I was so tired I concuss at 12.30am! YEA! I’m finally sleeping earlier!

well, we gers are so excited abt the bintan trip tat we met up for bikini shopping at tam mall last nite. i didn’t realise tat bikinis are getting quite affordable in sg.

over dinner which was at pasta mania, we discussed our trip in general.

Meals
HQ popped this question many many times throughout the conversation ;
“what are we bringing to cook at bintan?”
It’s always followed by my reply;
“can we not cook at bintan?”

anyway, conclusion was LJ & moi wants dinner on both nites….hehe….the thot of cooking on holiday juz doesn’t appeal to mi…even though we’re bringing olive oil, butter & stuff. ok, cup noodles sounds alrite to mi.

Sleeping arrangement
YT started tis : “I want to sleep on single bed.”
HQ went “I want to sleep on single bed too.”
LJ : “So I got no choice lah.”
HQ : “I like to sleep alone”
Moi : “I don’t like to sleep alone, so u mean I like to sleep wif ppl lah?”

So conclusion, LJ & Moi will take the double bed…: )
best part is we can both sleep wif the lights on. which is wat we intend to do. we’ll bring along our trashy novels for bedtime & lazing by the pool & patio reading. Moi got none but LJ has 20 new ones she juz borrowed from the library. Woo hoo!

ok, there’r more things to write but i’ll leave tat for tonite. gotta run for work now.

My resolution to wake up early (and sleep early !)

well, so far so good. I’m into my third day & still wakes up early enuff to take MRT to work. abit late for yeowyeow to skool though. Saving a lot on cab fares tis wk.

the thing i find really weird is, i’ve always thought i CAN”T wake up early. i totally concuss in the afternoons without the xtra 1 hr of sleep in the morning. tis is regardless of wat time i sleep.

and i haf broken plenty of resolutions to break tis habit. amazingly, my resolution is not especially strong tis time yet my body is functioning like clockwork. ok, not to tat extent but i’ve been waking up ard 6.50am, juz before my alarm goes off at 7am. now, alarms have never worked very well for mi. I can sleep rite thru them. it’s more my bio clock or mental alarm tat’s working now. really weird. and i slept at 3am tis morning!

mayb it’s a matter of setting priorities. mayb my kids matter more den anything else in the world to mi & my body is auto adjusting to take better care of them.

now, i juz nid to try to sleep earlier. the real prob is i dun get tired at nite! the later it gets, the more awake i am. totally bizarre. mayb i should quit my day job & get a nite job instead…if it pays better….haha, den i’ll most prob end up not sleeping at all.

i am looking at the clock on my comp every nite & telling myself. time to sleep, time to sleep…juz 15 mins more, u muz sleep NOW! sigh!

MJ session & my 十三幺

Dinner was followed by MJ session which we started without YT…haha

1st funny incident
HQ tried to cheat LJ of $1 by giving her onli $9 for her $10 chip & telling her to pay mi $1.
LJ looked at her innocently & told her “but u onli gave mi $9″
alas, HQ’s plans were foiled.

2nd funny incident
I did my 2nd 十三幺 tonite. got foto as proof~!
( First one was new yr’s eve 2 yrs ago at carlton hotel when SY proposed to XM )
anyway, we were playing $1$2 so HQ said it’s $32$64 for 5 台.
subsequently, YT came in & asked how can it be $32$64.
i did a refund to everyone.

conclusion : YT still makes a good auditor. She was able to spot our “accounting” error straightaway.

Our theory abt YT
YT was a good luck charm to anyone on her right. She was at her PC for a while & made Mun Mun 旺旺！

Of course, as usual, it was juz 卫生麻将 with no real exchange of $$. but it was still very fun!
All of us were quite tired though coz LJ was still on Sydney timing & HQ took flu medicine.

I know tis is way past my stipulated bedtime of 12mn but wat to do!? It’s not everyday I get 十三幺 leh!

The Feast

had a feast at YT’s place tonite. LJ bought so much food for us tat it looks like a buffet. the food was very nice though the 虾酱鸡 tasted like tandoori chicken.

and the rojak was good. no tau pok which we all hate & lotsa of our fav 油条.

tis reminded us of a buffet at seaview hotel many many yrs ago when someone was tasked wif taking 油条 for us gers but came back wif a plateful of tau pok….haha!

8 Nov 2005 – New Start

Today marks my 3rd month anniversary in my new role ( and I’m doing my PMP this afternoon ; P )

But more significantly, I have received a piece of beautiful news in my inbox this morning. Instead of waiting 3 years, I can now settle things in 3 months!

This is totally unexpected and comes as a pleasant surprise. I’m glad he’ll be happy for everything to be wrapped up ASAP too.

I also woke up at 7am this morning and made it in time to send Yeowyeow to skool and come to work with Pauline by MRT!

Just feeling alrite wif 5 hrs of sleep but hope I dun concuss in the afternoon, especially not in the middle of PMP.

Today is literally a new start to a new lease of life for mi. Wish mi luck!

Esplanade

had a hard time cooling down so we walked from liang seah to esplanade. i must haf been a sight
wif my puffy eyes…but ah von, how can u say 从来没有美过?? aiyoh

there were some nice exhibits in the esplanade…see the 2 shots above

but my spirits were lifted considerably when we went to the open area behind the esplanade, called on the waterfront, i tink. they had a veri nice live band blasting out great dance music….how the audience could sit there so stationary to such moving music is totally beyond mi. but the music was great! and i felt so energised by it. called HQ to let her listen to it too.

ah von & adrian came wif our drinks & we sat down & drank at the waterfront.
adrian was trying to make mi drunk so i can drown my sorrows wif tis 10% alcohol content long island tea mix but eeks! it tasted like cough syrup. pauline’s lime vodka tasted much much better.

i’m lucky to haf great pals stand by mi in my hr of need. got home sufficiently intoxicated to haf a good nite’s sleep. dun tink i need to drown my sorrows yet. there’s nuthing too tough to settle in life. when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. i am a survivor not a loser so i’ll get thru tis better & stronger.

C.A.N cafe

pauline accompanied mi to C.A.N cafe on sat nite. thanks pal…i knew i could count on u to be wif mi thru my giggles, tears & drinking.

life is not a bed of roses. and roses haf plenty of thorns though i absolutely love the rose scent…my body shop discontinued shower foam is my fav still! sigh…sunflowers are great too…as bright & cheery as mi. at least i try to be tat, most of the time.

Sat morning rain

went to orchard wif mum & shupin in the morning. it started to pour after we left the house.

wah! the rain was mega heavy while we were at bus stop. realli monsoon season now. weather’s so unpredictable. i was lucky to get a slight “tan”, ok, not a tan, slight browning of skin form the beautiful weather on Hari Raya.

yup, still prefer sunny skies but not too hot lah unless we lazing at beach…tat’ll materialise quite soon ya wif our bintan getaway….YT, booked oredi??

ah von, we long time no haf tan liao leh. wat happened to our lovely sun kissed skin? arms & legs too fair, very ugly.

yeowyeow is always boasting how fair & smooth his skin is…i oso duno wat i eat to gif him such fair skin….he doesn’t get tanned even from the sun! of course, i put sunblock to protect his “delicate” skin. but the myth abt soy milk giving fair skin is deifnitely rubbish coz i dun take soy milk.

Jocelyn in pretty sari

went shopping at mustafa centre wif jocelyn on fri nite. guess wat? her company’s d&d theme is also bollywood tis yr.

has fun browsing thru the many saris & sari tops…actualli most of the saris were in the textile form. it actualli takes 5.5m of cloth to “make” 1 sari! wow! wat is jocelyn going to do wif all tis fabric afterwards….lol.

the saleslady showed jocelyn how to wear the sari…alas, the art of wrapping a piece of cloth securely ard u!

den jocelyn treated mi to dinner at tis 剪刀剪 place. the same one tat ah yap tabao from the last time we went for mutton soup at lavendar. nice food, love the gravy but they ran out of pork chop & the next “batch” as at 10pm…anyway, we were hungry so we had other dishes instead.

Ah Qi wif toy cars

came back to find ah qi alone ( ok, not alone lah, wif my mum of course ) at home coz my bro & shupin has brought yeowyeow to loyang point.

look at all the toy cars being arranged so neatly on the ABC mats….haha….look like parking lots. and ah qi posed for a shot as well.

Botanical Gardens Revisited & "lingzhi" at Changi Beach

went to botanical gardens on hari raya hols. been a long long while since i set foot there. if the
last time i went was back in sec skool den more den 10 yrs liao wor!

my onli recollection of botanical gardens was it’s 1 big park wif lotsa open spaces & those ponds tat we used to take fotos at. hmm, the whole place looks much smaller from recollection & very different from memory..mayb i getting old lah.

anyway, took some interesting pictures of the giant tress…see how petite i look!

i’m spending too much time blogging. even my neopets has taken 2nd place.

HQ sent mi tis in an email tdy. andy’s so………..cute! absolutely luv him.

and i started liking him from primary skool! he gets better wif age, like sean connery! and i like nicholas cage too. mel gibson is very sexy too!

but andy’s still the best. haven’t got time to watch my 童梦奇缘 though. thank you Shu’en. not to mention LOST.

and i’ve got his book tat SY got for mi from taiwan…collector’s item ah!

My moose!

Look at tis adorable moose steve got mi from canada!

he has pride of place now at my desk. i made him a swing but i was worried someone will nick it so i tied him up wif a ribbon. so sadist, HQ will protest at tis. but it’s veri nice mont blanc ribbon hor.

den i decided to let him wear my flower ring, on his ear. looks like earring hor. like owner like moose mah.

and i took a shot of him holding the NY pen before he was ‘hang-ed’….haha, i’m enjoying torturing my moose.

did i mention anywhere tat i dun like soft toys. i mean i like them coz they’re cute but i’m not a soft toy hugger & i can’t stand having them in bed like HQ. muz go her place & take foto of her crowded bed.

when i get soft toys as presents ( not souvenirs! ) for bdays & such, i always tink the sender dun noe mi well enuff & presume all gers LOVE soft toys! BIG mistake!

And for the guys hoo haf commented tat cats & dogs are the same furry cute animals, you r so WRONG!! marie & lotsa my ger frens will agree on tis one. i love dogs but cats??!! ARGH! totally terrified of them & haf ZERO affection for them. but garfield is quite cute. hey! he’s not even a real cat!

again, tis is where HQ and YT and i are poles apart in our liking or rather disliking for all things furry…haha….opposites attract mah, tat’s y we’re great pals!

Bro’s Bday

tdy’s my bro’s 26th bird-day.

got him a cake after dinner. yeowyeow was put in charge of asking my bro which cake he wanted. the conversation went like tis :

“舅舅, wat cake u want? blackforest, coffee, fruit, mango?”
“Blackforest? i get mango cake for u.”
“Blackforest? we buy mango cake lah.”

i decided to take over the fone at his stage. turns out my bro wanted tiramisu, otherwise he’d settle for blackforest. unfortunately, yeowyeow was determined to get the mango cake instead. at least he remembers tat 舅舅 doesn’t want cheese cake.

once home, yeowyeow was very excited & puts all the candles on the cake, all ready for the cake cutting session. 舅舅 however wanted to wait for ah qi to be back. but yeowyeow was very sleepy & holding the knife oredi. in fact, he started piercing the cake wif the knife so we decided to get it done & over wif.

wat yeowyeow realli wanted wasn’t to cut the cake but to blow the candles. and he blew out the candles before singing the bird-day song. cake was yummy & yeowyeow had a huge slice. tink we over-ate tdy. muz go on diet soon.

oh & Channel U was showing tis program where 10 winners will emerge from this weight loss camp. i onli started watching halfway so not sure how it goes but i saw the contestants not eating for 1 day & being tempted by yummy food at every meal. they even went to bed wif sandwiches besides them. anyway, i saw Evana from Ryder!! wanted to tell ah nee but she nbr ans my call. will tell her tom.

Sushi session & hamsters

yup, went ahead wif plans wif sushi. realli regret telling yeowyeow abt it last nite coz he was going on & on abt having sushi since morning. even refused to haf porridge for lunch…sigh! big mistake on my part.

anyway, finally got out of the house at ard 4 after ending YT’s call. we still deciding which resort & dates for our little getaway. no conclusion yet but hopefully they managed to work out more details over MJ…hehe

okie, some pictures of yeowyeow, all excited & enjoying his sushi. he’s realli a sushi fan! well, i enrolled him in the sakae junior club the other day when sending HQ off so got tis $10 voucher which i used tdy. actualli, if i dun take sashimi, quite hard for 2 persons to eat more than $30 worth of sushi. we order the nabemono which was huge for 2 persons. yeowyeow didn’t want anyting to do wif it after munching many many maki sushi. he couldn’t even finish his ebikko.

guess wat?? i wasn’t sure abt the spelling, whether it’s ebikko or ebbiko so i did a yahoo search & for ebikko, hamsterhideout came out tops.

haha, here i go again. tis is starting to look like a to-do list cum daily resolution rolled into one.

well, i intend to :

1. buy 4D
2. bring yeowyeow for sushi and shopping
3. mayb bring yeowyeow to cut hair & haf a trim too. it is a big MAYBE
4. buy brown rice? depends on where we go. y the price keep increasing?? from $2.80 become $3.70 now!! and no choice rite? told my mum even if they decide to charge $5 a can, still need to buy since ah qi loves it. sigh, the MU still quite high for brown rice. tat’s marginal utility in case u’re wondering. super price tolerant consumers.
5. start work again on my brown poncho project. unravelled almost the whole thing yest morning while on the way to work. strangely enuff, it was most gratifying undo-ing things gone wrong.
